We have heard that some people are struggling to make comments on our posts which is doubly frustrating – for you who are trying to say something and for us because we are so keen to hear from you.
The blog is on a platform called WordPress but, from what we understand, you should be able to comment with just your name and an email address: you don’t need a WordPress account to comment. In an unsurprising IT twist, you do need a WordPress account to “like” a post apparently. Does anyone know if that is true?
Anyway, the comment box is down towards the bottom of the page and should look something like this:

But when you start to type some words in the “Write a comment…” section, magic happens and new boxes appear:

You do need to provide your name and an email address but that helps us know who to reply to and, at our end, we need to approve the first comment we receive to make sure it’s not spam.
Hopefully it will be easy enough but, like everything to do with technology, it’s all great when it works but it’s of no use when it doesn’t. So we’ve added a little “Feedback” button that you should be able to see on the screen. If you’re still stuck and can’t comment, please click this and tell us what you’re doing and where it goes wrong. Then we’ll speak to someone much younger than us to try to fix it! 😄
One last thing. You may be happy enough reading the blog (hopefully!) and never want to comment so are doubting why you’ve bothered to read this far. But what if, say, we made some ridiculous mistake? If we wrote “less” when we should have written “fewer”, you may feel an irrepressible urge to correct us but you may not be able to and it could drag you into a pit of frustration and no one wants that. So our advice is that you check if you’re able to comment just in case you want to. Something like “ This is not a comment on the post but is simply to check that I can comment should I ever need to” or simply “ test comment”. Or even, “I hope Niall got a decent payment for his guest blog, you stingy gits”. In this way you’ll know if you’ll be able to comment should the need arise and a catastrophe could be avoided.
Thank you so much for your comments. 🙌 We really enjoy them and it inspires us to keep blogging.
